Testing today, securing tomorrow

Rooftest is an independent consultancy specialising in the testing and investigation of flat roof and below ground waterproofing. Since 2007 we have been appointed across the UK to verify new installations, assess completed remedial works and establish the cause of water ingress where others have been unable to.

We are consultants, not contractors. We do not install waterproofing, sell remedial works or hold commercial ties to any manufacturer. Our interest is in establishing how a roof is actually performing and reporting it accurately. That is why building owners, main contractors, designers, manufacturers, warranty providers and insurers rely on our findings.

Electronic integrity testing

Electronic integrity testing is central to our work. Using wet and dry test methods, we locate breaches in the waterproofing so they can be repaired. We test new installations at handover and for warranty purposes, roofs following remedial works, and existing roofs where water ingress has been reported.

Leak investigation

Water entering through a defect can track through the roof build up before it shows inside the building. We combine the methods each roof requires, including electronic integrity testing, moisture profiling, MTA Roof Scan, thermal imaging, UV tracer dye, controlled simulated rainfall, borescope and CCTV. The aim is to show whether a defect we find is actually responsible for the ingress, not simply that a defect exists.

Moisture profiling

Moisture profiling maps where moisture is held within the roof build up. It shows the extent of wet areas so that decisions on repair or replacement are based on evidence.

Drainage and difficult to access areas

Alongside membrane testing, we use CCTV to survey roof outlets and rainwater pipework, drones to inspect high level and difficult to access areas, and borescopes to view concealed voids. All of our testing is non destructive.

Verification and retesting

We record the position of each defect so the repair can be targeted. Once repairs are complete, we retest the area and provide a documented record that no further breaches were detected.

Sectors

Nuclear, defence, data centres, healthcare, government, infrastructure, industrial, heritage, commercial and residential. Much of this work takes place in live or sensitive environments, where testing has to be planned around operations and access constraints.

Reporting

Our reports are written to stand up to scrutiny, including in warranty, insurance and dispute matters. They set out clearly what was found, where it was found and what testing demonstrated. Rooftest is a founding member of the Roofing and Waterproofing Test Association (RAWTA).
